Recent landslips on Brown Mountain have been investigated by the Transport for NSW geotechnical team.
Maintenance will be carried out this week, with the view to reopen the road back up to two lanes before Australia Day (weather permitting).
The next planned major work is set to start early 2023, allowing time for further investigation, development and community consultation. It will continue the ongoing program of installing various measures to stabilise this mountain pass. This may include removing trees and rocks and large scale works like installing steel mesh against the slope secured by soil nails, along with erosion matting.
Other important road maintenance will also be coordinated to minimise disruption and the community will be advised of this work and any changed traffic conditions in advance.
Transport for NSW continuously monitors and inspects the mountain, and revises slope ratings.
The safety of customers is our priority. Transport is continuing to carry out high priority repairs across the network.
