The Bega Valley was the scene of a high speed police chase involving multiple police vehicles over the weekend.
Around 8pm on Saturday (January 15), South Coast Highway Patrol officers were patrolling Carp Street, Bega, when they stopped a Hyundai i35.
Police spoke to the driver – a 44-year-old man – before he underwent a roadside breath test which returned a negative result.

Police requested the driver remain in his vehicle while they undertook further inquiries; however, the man drove from the scene.
A pursuit ensued to Bemboka when it was terminated due to safety concerns.
The man was last seen driving through Bemboka towards Cooma.
